Phone Reports
When you dial 502-574-5673, you will be connected to a trained professional reporting technician who will take your report. You will be given a police report number for your records.
The LMPD Service Center will take the following incident reports by phone:
- Theft reports (except for thefts involving controlled substances)
- Shoplifting incidents
- Harassment and harassing communications (other than domestic violence)
- Auto theft/unauthorized use of a motor vehicle
- Theft of motor vehicle registration plates and decals
- Theft from vehicle
- Theft of parts from vehicle
- Crimes involving fraud, forgery, identity theft or criminal possession of a forged instrument
- Criminal mischief
- Lost or missing property
- Missing person reports when the reporting party is a Child Protective Services (CPS) worker, youth center worker, or a professional at a listed youth care facility, the child is in the care/custody of the state, foster parent, or is missing from out of the area, except in cases where any suspicious or extraordinary circumstances
- Any type of miscellaneous report (other than domestic violence)
- Supplemental reports to previously reported incidents - unless it is a stolen controlled substance
Online Reports
If you have a valid email address, the incident happened in LMPD's jurisdiction and the suspect is not actively on scene, please review the following lists carefully to determine if your report can be filed online. Online R
The following reports can be submitted online:
- Harassing communication
- Hit & run (property damage only)
- Hit & run (unattended vehicle)
- Identity theft
- Lost property
- Non-criminal charges
- Supplemental reports to previously filed incidents
- Theft
- Theft from motor vehicle parts or accessories
- Theft of contents from motor vehicle
- Theft of gas
- Theft of mail
- Vandalism
The following reports CANNOT be submitted online:
- Assault*
- Burglary*
- Domestic violence related incidents*
- Harassment (physical contact)*
- Indecent exposure*
- Theft from a garage/shed/storage unit*
- Theft of a controlled substance*
- Threats of physical harm*
* Requires an officer to take a report in person. Call 502-574-7111 and choose Option 5 to have an officers dispatched to take your report.
- Theft of firearm**
- Theft of vehicle (including electric wheelchairs/scooters, tractors, minibikes, mopeds, trailers, and electric bikes)**
- Theft by employee/embezzlement**
- Lost/Stolen license plates, temp tags, or license plate decals**
- Fraudulent use of a debit or credit card**
- Harassment (no physical contact)**

Reports can be picked up from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
