Firearms Intelligence Squad

The Firearms Intelligence Squad (FIS) is comprised of detectives trained to focus on preserving, documenting, and collecting evidence resulting from firearms-related investigations.  Detectives will work closely with the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) agents and the Evidence and Property Unit (EPU) technicians with National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN) technology to identify perpetrators, link criminal activity, and investigate shooting incidents to disrupt the shooting cycle.  The cooperative goal is to reach the next level of efficiency and effectiveness in firearms investigations for increased prosecution, firearm-related convictions, and the reduction of gun-related crime.
